Saint Jax on the Mount is an open plan building to be shared for the provision of respite, tranquillity and healing for children who are differently-abled, their families, carers and friends. The building is approximately 20 years old and was originally designed as a church. The building premises are in Mount Victoria, off the road to Mount York.
Who can visit or stay at Saint Jax on the Mount?
Differently-abled children, their families, carers and friends are welcome to visit or stay. It’s best to book to avoid disappointment.

Bookings are available all year around. You may visit or stay at Saint Jax on the Mount on your preferred day or dates, provided no other events or bookings are already planned and/or booked.

Breakaway runs camps for children and young people with complex disabilities, and they also run camps for their siblings.
Established in 1982 to enhance the lives of children and adults with physical disabilities, it is a place where people with disabilities can enjoy a break from the institution in which they live or a break from their family routine.
Breakaway also provides the opportunity to meet new people through camps and events, and encourages self-reliance and independence that continues long after the camp ends. A small army of dedicated volunteers make these camps a reality.

For most children, their first bike ride is a rite of passage. But for children with a disability, this can seem unachievable.
With the help of a highly skilled and innovative team of therapists, engineers and volunteers at TAD, children with disabilities can now enjoy mobility and a form of recreation previously unavailable to them.

Through the Inclusion Support Program (ISP) there is funding available for children with a disability to access all forms of child care, including vacation care. You may be eligible for the Child Care Benefit (which is a subsidy to help families pay for Commonwealth approved vacation care services for their children).
Centre based care is combined with outing days for school age children generally up to secondary school age. Local councils operate vacation Care Centres. Vacation care generally welcomes and accommodates children with a disability, by using funding from the Inclusion Support Subsidy.
Once you have secured a place in a vacation care centre for your son or daughter, you will be guaranteed a maximum of 5 days each school holiday period. This helps parents who are trying to remain in paid employment, and your child will be enjoying the company of their school-aged peers, which is a “win-win” situation for all!

Educational Outreach is a specialist autism intervention team that provides a range of direct and indirect services to children, adolescents, families, schools, and to the broader community.
The Social Clubs program objectives are to provide participants with:
regular opportunities to meet and make new friends and to interact in structured but relaxed, stimulating and fun recreational environments.

Sailability caters for people with a wide range of disabilities and experiences, has support from state sporting authorities and works closely with a variety of disability organisations around Australia, ensuring that people with disabilities have the opportunity to sail in safety.

This innovative playground on the corner of Chisholm and Chiswick Roads has three main features linked by a wheelchair accessible pathway: Play structure, Maze, and a Liberty Swing.
