SELF ADVOCACY

Self advocacy means acting on your own behalf and standing up for you. It involves understanding your rights and responsibilities and combining this knowledge with your skills and experience to make decisions that affect your life and the lives of those you care for.

Your Story, Your Ideas
If your story was told to the world, via the media or some other means, would it assist in persuading decision-makers about the need for improvements to services and support for families of children and young adults with a disability?
If so go to this link or contact the Community Education Co-ordinator, Helen Johnson by email: helenj@aafcd.org.au
Disability Complaints Service
